Hi, Bob! So glad to see you still at it! I just got back from Kuwait and I’m happy to speak the language of the land well again. It’s time for journalism school! Take care.
Alistair
Hi, good day!Hope to meet You in US.
Dear Mr. Hite and Mr. Cate:
I am a war widow! My husband Cpt. Christopher Petty was KIA 5 January 2006. I moved my two sons and I to the Tampa area to be near his family. With that move I felt complelty removed from the Military and all that was happening in Iraq. Until that is, I found your war stories on late one night. I so appreciate your love of country, Soldier and Heroes! I think your stories are enlightening and heart felt. I appreciate what you are doing to honor our men and women. My husband was a strong man, father, husband and Soldier. He loved his country and he loved his military. So thank you again for your reports!
Sincerely
A War Widow!
I only saw about 20 min of War Stories with Bob Hite and Keith Cate 2 nights ago and it was great. I think the reporting of the war is way to political. I thought it honest and refreshing to see the soldiers talk about their experiences , what they are proud of and find important. Thanks for excellent reporting. Ill be watching for your news about the war over the other channels.. Thanks
Why does the invasion of Iraq continue to be referred to as retaliation for the 9/11 attacks? Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11 as has been proven by numerous investigations nor did they have WMDs as we were also told. It is irresponsible and downright shameful for you to casually continue to propagate the idea that 9/11 and Iraq are linked in any way. To do so lacks journalistic integrity and is a discredit to the American people who have been lied to enough.
Like many others, I was shocked and dismayed by Keith Cate’s irresponsible and unabashedly biased report on Gitmo. There are enough Americans who are xenophobic and reactionary when it comes to national security as it is, and we certainly did not need to throw more fuel on the fire. Mr. Cate, how dare you imply that US prisoners have it too good simply because they have air conditioning and books to read? We as a nation should be proud of any comforts we offer to our prisoners of war, especially in light of the allegations of abuse and torture at the hands of American soldiers. Shame on you, Mr. Cate, for choosing to air your bias at the expense of a nation divided.
It truely is amazing how many liberals are here in the Tampa area. You liberals would give every right of every American up to the UN. You will never take my rights away and give them to these prisoners. I appreciate the stories given by Keith Cate and Bob Hite. They are more patriotic and love their country than you could every think you could be. I am tired of all this political correctness. If you have ever read the Koran you will know that they are not a peaceful religon, if you are not a muslim than you are an infidel and must die. They dont discriminate between liberal or conservative. They will cut your head off first chance they get. You liberals need to wake up and look around instead of hiding your heads in the sand.
Mr. Cates,
I found your story disturbing , in the sense that we have now such dishonest people who have been given the right to call themselves “journalist”. A journalist is supposed to be a nonpropagandist , but then what else can we expect from an ignorant person. If you have no principles of honesty you cannot see the difference between a true story and a propagand. I can bet my last penny that you go to Church every Sunday. People like you have to , to cover your dishonest deeds. Why do you not stay with them and not just go on an “arranged tour”. I bet you are not at all ashamed to teach dishonesty to your kids too. Keep it up you will get a raise .
I’m surprised so often to hear other’s opinions reguarding gitmo and their defense of the detainees. Any situation they endure in our custody is better than how their own country would have treated them for even less cause. Their tongues have not been cut out by us or their families murdered. Under Sadam even suspision meant death or REAL torture. Not only that but these detainees are not American citizens and are not guaranteed our constitutional rights.
As a long time follower of Channel 8 News with Gail and Bob, I was particularly dismayed at Keith Cate’s BIASED report from Gitmo Bay. It is only humane to treat these prisoners civily with adequate meals, A/C, books, etc. - when they have not been charged with anything except being a Muslim suspect. They have been held indefinitely, denied ‘due process’ and the ‘rule of law’ - long held to be great and valid American values. I was especially upset to hear Gail refer to these men as ‘terrorists’ - they have not been charged, given counsel or convicted! This appears to be a last gased right wing attempt to spin the news!
Support our troops by saving their lives and showing the American people what is really happening to their loved ones! Get this documentary out in the open its called “Iraq For Sale”, The War Profiteers. The American People deserve to know!
http://iraqforsale.org/
Im not promoting the film, Im just a student, but I too like so many of us have loved ones in Iraq and knowing the sheer neglect of our government to keep them safe is appaling!
You have to air this our families are depending on it!!
Thank you!
Thanks for Keith Cate’s latest installment about Gitmo’s conditions. I’m glad to see that you qualified your report by noting that these prisoners may never leave, or have a day in court. While it is probably true that many of them deserve to be there, however comfortable it is or isn’t, if they are never permitted to confront their accusers then there is no justice for anyone. If they are enemy combatants, prove it in a court of law. We are a country of laws, aren’t we?
Thank you so much for giving the REAL story of what is going on in the war zones and gitno
Hello Bob,Rosalie is 22 on the 14th nov

Stay well, best wishes Vi.
Bob,
You were with my brother-in-law, Gordon Fuller, when you were in Bagdad this last time. He actually sent me still pictures of your IED accident. I am very proud of how you have kept with the facts in your reporting. You have always shown your support for our men and women in uniform. Thank you very much. If you want me to email the photos just let me know their are about 4 or 5.

Dear Bob Hite,
Your “War Stories” report on Wednesday was so deeply touching it brought tears to my eyes. Your deep respect for those brave young men was evident in all you did, especially by calling them “sir” though they were much younger than you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unbiased depiction of the lives of our soldiers. You’ve allowed them to shine as the brave heroes they truly are.
Sincerely,
Belinda Dickman
We keep missing the War Stories on TV and have to look for them online. Where can we find a schedule for them? Thanks for reporting live from the field and risking your life to bring us the info. God Bless our Troops. Semper Fi.
Bob and Cate did a great job of reporting. Bob’s experience showed the danger our troops are in everyday. This story should win a prize. But, Gail could not wait until the story completed before she jumped in with one of her silly beauty treatment stories. Maybe she should sue for malpractice.
Great vidio of pilot, Lanny Morrison. Lanny and I were stationed at FT Riley, 72-74. The last time we visited was 1985, lost contact and have been looking for him for years. If you have a contact address/email that you could send me it would be appreciated. If possible please forward my email address to him. All the guys/gals overseas are doing an outstanding job. Thanks for the report.

I watched the piece on Guantanomo. I must say that it was sloppy journalism and came across as propoganda. The piece implied that all of the prisoners at Guantanomo Bay were enemy combatants. However, I did not see Keith Cate interview a single prisoner, a single member of amnesty international or the red cross, nor did I see any interviews with any military personnel questioning the guilt of the prisoners. Mr. Cate could have researched this topic in a non-biased manner and brought up concerns of innocent men being detained along with the guilty. He could have asked for specifics on why prisoners were arrested in the first place. He could have done a lot more research.
As a fully disabled Marine veteran of the Vietnam “conflict”,it was pleasant to read of your report on the niceties of “War Stories” and what on the surface appeared to be a happy ending. I’m not here to trod on your reporting of “War Stories”, but let’s face the true intention of it. Was it not addressed to the families of those loved ones serving in harm’s way, or possibly some recruiting propaganda?
I looked at the face on that young man who was severely wounded. It was reported that he was “lucky” because he survived, and his buddy didn’t. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder doesn’t sound too warm and fuzzy to me guys. I have no suggestions, but a better title would have been better.
My Marine boyfriend told me that he was interviewed by Bob Hite in Ramadi. We are actually from the Tampa Bay area, but currently living in Orlando so we don’t get the channel. As the another lady has asked, I was wondering when it will be aired and if there was any way for me to get a copy. I know he would love to see it when he comes home. Please get back to me, I’d appreciate it.
About a week ago we received a phone call from our son who is stationed in Ramadi, Iraq. He told us that their unit was interviewed by a reporter from this television station. We would like to know if there is a way that we could get a copy of this interview or get some information about it. We do not get Channel 8 in Gainesville.
Thank you!
